Well you could say I'm not the best at keeping up with this. Well to start with, me and Aria are no longer located in Maine. Both of us are living happily in Pennsylvania! Last August we made the twelve hour drive so we could attend Delaware Valley College. He is doing awesome and loves his job, although he hasn't been outside for a couple of weeks so he has been a little feisty. The only downside is that I haven't been able to ride him since August.

Last summer, I actually managed to get Ember a really nice home. She is such a great girl, and I'm so glad I found a good place to go. She gets to play with goats and chickens and kids and she couldn't be happier. Right after leaving, my parents decided that they couldn't handle Dexter anymore. He was getting to be a handful and wouldn't even let them catch him. He actually broke through the fence and it took them hours to catch him before they took him up to Dover. Now though he is getting all the attention he needs and has no problems being caught.

And, last Thanksgiving, I had to make the really sad decision to have Luke put down. He was just too skinny and my parents were taking care of him, and couldn't keep up with him. He was happy though, and it was a good thing we made the decision when we did.

So, back to where I am now, me and Aria are having a great time down here in Pennsylvania, and the only horse my parents have to worry about is a super easy keeper and doesn't cause any problems. Also unfortunate, I probably won't be back in Maine for an extended period of time for a while, so there will be no more lessons given.

What a coincidence, it's been exactly a month since the last time I was here. Not much has really happened recently.

I haven't ridden Luke lately, he's been getting so skinny. I feel awful for the poor old man, so I upped his grain... a bit. He went from 4 pints a day to 16 pints a day. His ribs are actually not the problem right now, although they were. It's just the rest of him that has no fat. I honestly don't know what to do with the guy, because he can't be really used for much anymore. He is such a sweetheart though and I'm so glad we have him. :)

Ember on the other hand... Is still adorable as ever. Her hip is so much better than it was when we first got her. Hopefully I will be bringing her to Infinity Farm in Dover soon and I will be able to get her into shape! I have started riding her again, and I tried to lunge her but she wasn't so keen on that idea. No, she decided she was going to rear and strike at me instead. Not going to push my luck there, so I just hopped on her. If I don't have a whip she absolutely will not move though. When other people ride her without a whip I have to lead her and as soon as I let go she stops walking and there is no possible way to get her moving again unless I am holding on. I guess it's not really a bad thing.

I'm pretty bad at keeping updated on this. But, it's better than not at all I suppose. Hopefully, this weekend the weather is nice out, because I really want to ride Lukey and maybe even Miss Ember!! (And yes, I do plan on actually using a saddle on Luke this time.)

I did actually ride Luke after the last disaster I had. I even ponied Ember along with him! No cars went by (thankfully) and I only went down the road a short ways, but it went pretty smoothly besides that. It was actually kinda funny seeing Ember chilling out behind Luke and Luke was getting all angry at her! He never gets mad at her and he was giving her angry ears! In the end, it was a nice relaxing ride for all of us and everyone behaved well.

Dexter's mane is starting to grow out quite a bit since I had to finish the hack job. I guess it was never really that short to begin with, but it was still such a horrible thing for me to have to do to him. Ah, manes... I have to re-pull Aria's mane. And once again, he is going to be so mad at me for it. He needs it though, he has such a thick mane! I haven't been so keen on pulling it in the past, but once I go to college I am going to have to keep it pulled as long as he is with me. That's the one thing I'm not looking forward to but it's not too big of a deal I suppose. ;)

12/8/11
Right now we have three horses on site. We have Dexter, Ember, and Luke! They are all so fuzzy and totally prepared for the winter months. It's funny, but I'm pretty sure they get coats twice as thick as Aria's who is currently at another barn for the time being. He gets almost no coat while they all fuzz right up! I don't understand... -_-

I rode Luke the other day... bareback o.o
I don't know what I was thinking. He has the worst bony back I have ever seen and I never want to sit on that horse without a saddle again. This is me, who hates to use saddles... and I'm never ever even going to think about getting on that horse without a saddle. It was probably the worst idea I've had in a long time. Anywho, next time I take Luke out, I plan on ponying Ember along with us to see how she reacts to cars with a buddy right next to her. Knowing my luck, it will probably end in disaster, but it's worth a try.

Oh Dexter, I feel so bad for the poor guy. I went out into the paddock just the other day and found that half of his mane was missing! It looked like someone started hacking at it only to stop halfway through and just left it. Almost in tears, I had to bring out the shears and hack off the rest of his mane. Luckily, its still about 8 inches long so it shouldn't take too long to grow back out to where it was. Although he did have the prettiest mane...

Speaking of manes, I just pulled Aria's mane. He absolutely hates me for it. He got sooo mad at me while I was trying to pull it, so I ended up stopping as soon as it was all relatively the same length and it's all uneven now. I blame Aria for this. -.- He would not let me finish no matter what. Maybe after we jump tomorrow he will be too tired to care >:)
